| ARTHUR RAISES CASH FOR
MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT November 16 - Arthur featured in Ely Standard,
presenting cheque for £375 to representatives of the cancer nursing charity.
Arthur raised money racing in the Soham Half Marathon and the BUPA Great
North Run in 2006.

June 27 - In lieu of being allowed to take part in the London
Marathon, Arthur will enjoy participating in the hand-bike race around
Buckingham Palace on September 2nd. Grunty Fen half marathon is a week later,
Sept 10, and Arthur will race once more in the Great North Run on October 2nd.
May 21, 2006 - Arthur took part in the Soham Half
Marathon on May 21, 2006.
Arthur Cutter supported MAGPAS when he took part in
the 2005 BUPA Great North Run.

CAMBRIDGESHIRE: Arthur Cutter took part in both the Grunty Fen half
marathon on Sunday 11 September and was winner of the wheelchair category. On
Sunday 18 September he raced in the BUPA Great North Run and came in at just
over the hour.

As a result of an accident in 1988, Arthur Cutter suffered a
traumatic spinal injury and has little use of his legs and cannot race in a conventional
wheelchair. Instead, he has very successfully raced a hand-powered,
recumbent, tricycle, in many half marathons (including the Grunty Fen) and road races, in 2003 The New York
Marathon and in 2004 the BUPA Great North Run. He was also a participant in the Queen's Jubilee Baton Relay in
2002 and is a recipient of a Cambridge Evening News Millennium Medal for
outstanding work in the community. Arthur also holds the Guinness World
Record for greatest distance travelled in one hour using a hand-cranked trike.
His dogged determinism and
stamina mean he is also raising awareness of disability issues and working
to bring about social inclusion for people with disabilities. He has raised money for local and national charities. He would love to
race in the London Marathon and is training hard to that end as
well as applying pressure to the organisers to allow entry for disabled hand-powered trike
riders. |
